Press Release 2nd October 2017
The Essex & Southend Sports Trust (EASST) continued its long standing commitment to the Southend United Community and Educational Trust (SUCET) by making another donation of £30,000 to support Premier League Kicks, a free program for 8-19 years olds to help improve their football skills and confidence.
The Premier League then matched this grant pound for pound which means that SUCET has a total of £60,000 to expand the programme.
EASST has continued to support the Community & Education Trust for 15 years and have made a total donation of c£300,000 that has gone to provide key support to sessions across South Essex.
The cheque was presented by Peter Butler, (EASST Chairman), accompanied by Joe Sims, (EASST Trustee), to Geoffrey King (Southend CET Chairman) and Dale Spiby (Southend United CET Chief Executive) on the pitch at Roots Hall Stadium before Southend’s game against Northampton on Saturday 16th September.
“EASST providing funding to support over 955 young people on Premier League Kicks enabled us to deliver over 40 weeks of Football sessions across South Essex at 7 different venues. The funding helps to build safer, stronger, more respectful communities through the development of young peoples' potential offering various pathways including scholarships, qualifications and employment. We thank EASST for this kind donation and look forward to their continued support.” Joe Skeels Social Inclusion Officer
